It seems like very few people fully exploit the advantages of the elementalist heroes. I'll write this guide from the perspective of the Posiedon Faction, since they seem to have access to the best elementalist heroes.
Asclepios - Open to everyone at the end of Beasts in the Wilderness. The only healer available in the game, atleast upto and including the Falling Earth zone. An absolute must for anyone going the elementalist route. Equipment required: Book, Armor, Cloak. Horn Optional.
Hector - Open to everyone approx. 2/3rd the way through Troy. Thunderbolt Mage. In my experiance he has approx. a 20% chance to hit. You can usually count on him hitting once in a fight, and if properly equiped, it will destroy the stack he hits. If it doesn't destroy the unit, the unit will lose it's next action. Equipment required: Book, Armor, Cloak, Horn Optional.
Chiron - Open to everyone approx 1/3 the way through Beasts in the Wilderness. Pyromancer units. Has approximately a 70% chance to hit. A staple for any elemental formation. Damage will be among the lowest of the single unit hitters, but will regularly deal damage. Equipment Required: Book, Armor, Cloak. Horn Optional.
Syrinx - Available to Poseidon Faction at M11. Cyclone Mage units. Attack hits all enemies with approximately 40% chance to hit each. Units struck will begin to lose 15% of their current stack total when they attack, with the potential to lose their next action immediately after hit. Decent unit for wittling away at the enemy, or for counteracting an enemy healer. Equipment Required: Armor, Cloak, Horn Optional. Note: Book does nothing for this caster, as damage is a set percentage of the stack hit.
Epimethius - Available to Posiedon Faction at M13. Furious Hydromancer units. Has approximately 50% chance to hit. Damage can easily exceed 1.5k to a single stack when properly equiped. Strongly recommended for this build. Equipment required: Book, Armor, Cloak, Horn Optional.
Psamathe - Available to Poseidon Faction at M15. Meteorite Mage units. Attack strikes all enemy units. Approximately 75% chance to hit each one. When properly equipped, this unit can be reasonably expected to deal 500 damage to 4 out of 5 of the enemy stacks each round. Another unit that is strongly recommended for this type of build. Equipment required: Book, Armor, Cloak, Horn Optional.
These are the heroes you can reasonably expect to have at your disposal at lvl 60. When I mention properly equiped, I am refering to your equipment being at base lvl of 25, and at a grade of G2-5 or better, with atleast 2 gold washes done to each, giving all of them a +10 to each attribute.
Using this build, your tech tree will look very lopsided. Armor Forging, Magic Resistance, Elemental Penatration, and Elemental Resistance should stay maxed as you level up. Blacksmithing and Magic Penatration are not required to be learned at all for this build, as all of your units will be using the Elemental Penatration tech for thier attacks.
Formations: Tetsudo, Inverted Wedge, Gramarye, and Skein will all work. But I /strongly/ recommend Gramarye. Your formation should also stay maxed as you level up. Since you are streamlining your tech tree by not learning Blacksmithing or Magic Penatration, keeping what you do learn leveled with you shouldn't be a problem.
